How can we improve onpatient?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

  1. Allow for greater flexibility in asking custom forms - longer questions, make questions mandatory, & more "additional questions" screens

    Currently, many patients skip half of our intake form because they either don't see the question or just choose not to fill it out. We have N/A or none as options for many questions, but patients don't select this option because currently they have the option to not make any selection. We have to take the Ipad back to the patient several times in order ask the patient to complete the forms. This is frustrating and wastes time for both the patient and my team.     • Send SOAP Plan or any selected section directly to onpatient

      Ability to send selected sections of the complete note to the patient's onpatient portal without having to print the section as a pdf and save it to the computer then upload it to patient's chart, then click the button to upload to onpatient.

      For example: Select "Print Sections" from the complete note. Then select SOAP Plan from the template list. Then click "Send to inpatient" button.

      So much more simple and takes mush less time than having to download the plan, then upload the plan back to chrono, then send to onpatient.

      • More specific online scheduling.

        Allow patients to schedule an appointment through OnPatient by selecting a specific doctor at a specific office location. Right now it just shows all of the available appointment times at each location but the patient has no way of knowing if their specific doctor is available or even works at said location.

        • Labs should be able to be sent directly to onpatient with a comment from staff.

          Labs should be able to be sent directly to onpatient with a comment from staff. Communication of labs, x-rays and other results need a document trail and evidence of effort by physician offices to communicate with the patient. It would be great to allow a quick button to add a comment to a lab result, then push it to Onpatient, email or text message the patient. Other EHR have this ability. Thank you.

          • patients messages should be visible on doctors phone application

            when a patient sends a message on patient, it would be great to show up on the phone dr chrono app for doctors, not just i pads

            • Require the original message to populate while replying the email form message center

              I recommend that you implement a way to see the original message/messages received when responding so you don't have to switch back and forth to respond to each point the other person has made in the initial message.

              • Select appointment length when scheduling online

                I see some patients for med management only, and others for therapy as well. Would be great if patients could select a 30 min appt vs a 60 min appt.

                • Change 'check in' button to something else to make it more intuitive for patients

                  I have had many patients confused about Onpatient. They call and say that they cannot find the intake forms. We have to tell them to click the 'check in' button. Could you please change what this button says? It should not say 'check in'. It should say 'begin onboarding' or something like that. Check in refers to checking in prior to the appointment, so it is not intuitive for the patient to click 'check in' when this is weeks before the appointment. Please change this so that it is more intuitive for patients to begin the onboarding process through Onpatient.

                  • Improve mobile website usability

                    I sent in a help ticket notifying your team that when a patient uses the onpatient mobile website to set up their accounts from their cell phone, the phone number and DOB fields randomly reorder the data they are entering. (They enter 03/06/1975, and it registers it as 30/19/7506, or some such nonsense).

                    The help desk "solved" my problem by telling me they should register for OnPatient from a desktop.

                    So my feature request is for a mobile website that reliably works, and a support team to fix coding errors and make sure that it works.

                      I love how patients can fill out onboarding info through Onpatient and also create their own appointments, but my patients have been pretty confused because when they create follow up appointments, they are asked to fill out onboarding forms every time. I have my patients fill out onboarding with the initial appointment, and they then create follow up appointments themselves through Onpatient. I do not need them to fill out onboarding information every single time they have a follow up appointment. It's simply unnecessary. Nowhere does it say that the Onboarding forms are optional, so patients are confused about why…

                        Currently you can only pay your statement balance for dates of services that have already been completed. Based on our patient feedback it would be very useful if they could use the same payment option on OnPatient to pay a copay before or immediately after their appointment.

                          t would be INCREDIBLE if you guys could offer dynamic intake forms. For example, if a patient is presenting to the office for dermatology services, they would click "yes" and then certain fields would appear based upon this user input.
                          Another example would be "car accident" vs regular chronic injury.

                          You would also have to think about how this would work if for example a patient was receiving, let's say, Chiropractic Care and then they wanted to receive Dermatology services.                           • White label onpatient to fit branding of practice

                            For practices with practice branded patient communications and web applications, it would be helpful to maintain the brand by allowing the onpatient portal to be branded as the practices portal, such as "XYZ family practice portal", etc. When the invite to onpatient is received, the invite should come from the practice name and not from an individual provider name.

                              • Reminders should be automatically pulled from the last visit when patients are using onpatient to schedule their appointments.

                                This is a real problem. I should not have to go into the schedule and manually add reminders when a patient has used onpatient to schedule online. It is not an idea for an improvement. This should have been included in the first build. It is NOT optional and really has a negative impact on my workflow.

                                  • It cannot let patients reschedule or cancel appointments within a 24 hour window.

                                    I want a 24 hour cut off so patients can't change or cancel unless it's 24 hour notice or they have to call the office. This is crucial. It costs us money when appointments are not filled due to last minute changes

                                      We are having many patients bring up new symptoms or concerns via OnPatient.

                                      We would like a way to provide some guidelines to the patients on the use of OnPatient messaging. For example:

                                      "Secure OnPatient communication with your physician is designed to clarify treatment plans or prescriptions already discussed during an office visit.

                                      New symptoms (unrelated to an existing visit), diagnosis, prescriptions or any health question that have not previously been addressed with your Doctor during an office visit require a schedule office visit."

                                        For patients who fill out the intake form at home on a computer I suggest a change in verbiage for the multiple select questions to the following: "Hold the Ctrl key while clicking to select multiple options (⌘-click on Mac)."

                                        It currently reads:

                                        "Hold the Shift or Control key to Ctrl-click (⌘-click on Mac) to select multiple options
