I suggest you ...

I need to be able to SCAN documents directly into the patient's chart.

or IMPORT directly from scanner into the patient's chart. for when we need to scan the patient's insurance card, or receive specialist reports in the mail, or when the patient brings in hospital discharge papers.

this should be easy to do with any TWAIN scanner.

it is incredibly tedious to have to open adobe acrobat, scan the document, save the document (including having to NAME the document), then go into drchrono, find the patient, click to the documents section, locate the document, then upload the document. (then somewhere down the line, delete the original)

having electronic charts is supposed to ELIMINATE tedious, repetitive tasks. there should just be a button that allows you to do this.

TWAIN technology has existed for years, but currently drchrono makes no good use of it.

Thanks so much for your suggestion! We have partnered with a company called Inuvio that can scan and upload documents directly to a patient’s chart! Please visit www.drchrono.com/apps and fill out the form so our team can demo the integration!

Inuvik is not the solution for this problem as it only allows for Patient data is extracted from images of a patient's ID and insurance card and auto-populated in drchrono.

We agree that chrono needs the ability to scan/upload directly into the patient's documents to cut out the need to scan to a computer/server, then upload into patient's chart.

Jen: If you look at https://www.drchrono.com/apps under the icon for Inuvio, you will see in the features description: "Bonus: Upload any document type!"

Since I needed to upgrade my account from legacy Promethius pricing we decided not to use the app, so I can't say for sure whether it actually lets you upload any document type.

The answer given here applies to insurance cards only. The question, and what's needed to have anything near an efficient office workflow, is to be able to scan physical therapy reports, specialist reports, etc, into Dr.Chrono without all the extra and cumbersome steps that currently exist.

Don't know if this would work for you but we use the Clinical Photo on iPad to import directly into the patients documents. We do this from their chart, either in Visit or Patient - Actions- Clinical Photo. For insurance cards or one page documents this works because it prompts you to take a photo. Takes a minute to upload but saves it right to their History or Documents. I understand your frustration, it seems this should be easier. Hope that helps some.
